Our Practice

Intellectual property rights are at the forefront of every business and protecting those rights is more important than ever before.  As technology moves at lightning speeds, the law is adapting to keep up.  Gibney takes every opportunity to stay one step ahead when it comes to securing and protecting clients’ intellectual property rights.  Our attorneys actively lead and participate in various educational programs, including lectures, presentations and seminars on current topics for bar associations, CLE programs, trade association conferences and international intellectual property organizations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC), the IACC Foundation, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Apparel and Footwear Organization, to name a few.

Our attorneys are admitted in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Washington D.C., enabling the intellectual property team to cover all business matters in the tri-state area and in D.C.  We also take pride in our global participation in activities designed to curtail counterfeiting.  Our attorneys travel the country and the world preparing training programs for law enforcement agencies in counterfeit investigations and product identification.  We are frequently quoted in editorials and news sources such as Business Week, ABC News, Womens’ Wear Daily and by INTA and the IACC.  Gibney attorneys also compose commentaries on recent case law decisions and are involved in various aspects from drafting to editing major U.S. trademark and copyright treatises, such as Trademark Counterfeiting, published by Aspen Law and Business.  Brian W. Brokate served as the editor and chapter author of this treatise in its updated edition.  Gibney attorneys also stay current in the academic world by composing articles and other materials for various intellectual property related publications.

Gibney attorneys are trained in the art of negotiation, settlement and resolution.  If a resolution can be reached without litigation, our attorneys will do so in the interests of saving our clients’ time and expense.
